Four rush TDs not enough to beat Saints

Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown combined for four rushing TDs, but that wasn't enough to overcome the New Orleans Saints, who remained perfect with a 46-34 victory. Miami led 34-24 entering the fourth quarter, but the Saints scored 22 unanswered points to pull out the win.

The defense intercepted Drew Brees three times, but they couldn't stop him in the end. Chad Henne had his worst outing since taking over the starting job. Henne completed just half of his 36 attempts for 211 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Both interceptions were returned by the Saints for touchdowns. Ouch. You could say that was the difference in the game right there.

Some would say it was a moral victory for the Dolphins to keep up with arguably the best team in the NFL, but at 2-3 (2-4 now), Miami was playing as close to a must-win game as you could have in the seventh week of the season. And they didn't win it.

Henne, RBs shine in win over Jets

Chad Henne showed why the coaching staff placed so much faith in his future, and the RB duo of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams continued to show they're one of the best running tandems in the league in a come-from-behind victory over the NY Jets, 31-27. Henne completed 20 out of 26 passes for 241 yards and two TDs for a passer rating of 130.4. One of his touchdowns was a 53-yarder to Ted Ginn (remember him?). Ronnie and Ricky added 142 yards and two additional touchdowns. Brown scored the winning touchdown from the Wildcat offense with six seconds left.

Could this be the game that turns around the Dolphins' season, like last year's surprise defeat of the Patriots? That remains to be seen. The more important fact is that Miami has been playing significantly better in its last two games than the first three. (They played well against the Colts but still lost.)

Dolphins get first win against Bills

The Miami Dolphins broke into the win column in a big way by thrashing the Buffalo Bills, 38-10. Chad Henne got the first start in his NFL career, and while the statistics weren't impressive, he played well enough for the team to win. Like the Colts game, Miami's running attack controlled the ball. However, unlike two weeks ago, the ground game's effectiveness translated into points and ultimately a victory.

How good were the Dolphins on the ground? They piled up 250 yards rushing for an average of 5.6 yards per run. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams were equally effective. Brown carried 20 times for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Williams added 85 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Defensively, rookie Vontae Davis returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. Ex-CFLer Cameron Wake sacked Buffalo QB Trent Edwards three times. The Dolphins totaled six sacks in all, but they also gave up six sacks.
