Justin Smiley traded

Guard Justin Smiley was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a seventh round draft pick in 2011. The trade has been expected for a while, and the Dolphins were finally able to find a trade partner in the Jaguars. Smiley has been plagued by a shoulder injury since 2008 and was asked not to attend the team's offseason workout program. Donald Thomas and Richie Incognito are currently penciled in as the starting guards this season. The Dolphins also acquired guard Cory Procter this week after the Cowboys cut him.

Rookie minicamp concluded

The newly drafted rookies and free agents went through a short minicamp earlier this week. From what I gathered, this was more of an introduction to life in the NFL for the rookies rather than a means for the coaches to evaluate them. As a result, there wasn't much feedback on individual players. As a group, coach Sparano said, "I like the way they look mentally and physically. It didn't look too big for a lot of them when they were running around out here." In two weeks, the rookies come back to meet the veterans for the next minicamp.
