More on Ricky's drug violation

There is no word yet on how exactly Ricky Williams violated the NFL's drug policy, but sources say that the banned substance is not marijuana. He has appealed the suspension.

An interesting tidbit, and the reason the story first broke out of Denver, is that the Dolphins and Broncos were discussing a trade for Ricky Williams when Denver found out about the drug test. The news was then leaked to the Denver station.

Ricky violates drug policy?

A Denver station reported that Ricky Williams has violated the NFL's drug policy again. This would be his fourth violation, which results in a one-year suspension.

Say it ain't so, Ricky. How stupid do you have to be to take drugs again?

Two former LSU assistants join Dolphins staff

The Dolphins added assistant coaches Kirby Smart and Bo Davis, both of whom worked for Nick Saban at LSU. Smart will be a safeties coach, and Davis will be an assistant strength and defensive line coach.

Congratulations to the Steelers

Pittsburgh now ties San Francisco and Dallas for the most Super Bowl titles (5).

The Steelers are the first 6th seed to win the Super Bowl and the first team to beat the #1, #2, and #3 seeds during the playoffs.

The AFC has won 5 of the last 6 and 7 of the last 9 Super Bowls. Remember the stretch in the 80s and 90s when the NFC was winning all the time?

Was this the first Super Bowl between current/former AFC teams?

Super Bowl pick

Despite a 1-2 record in picking the conference champions, and 1-of-4 in the divisional playoff series, I remain undaunted in picking a Super Bowl winner. And my pick is... the Seattle Seahawks. I know the old saying that defense wins championships (and Pittsburgh has the better defense), but Seattle has been the more impressive team to me throughout the year. Even though they had a better record and were the #1 seed in the NFC, vs. a #6 seed for Pittsburgh, the Seahawks are 4-point underdogs, something I don't understand. Right after the conference championship games, I thought Seattle would be a slight favorite, but the oddsmakers saw differently.

How will my prediction hold up? I picked Seattle both times previously, and they won both times. However, I also picked against Pittsburgh both times, but they won. We'll find out in 3 days.
