Dolphins still unsettled at QB
I had been putting off posting about the Dolphins' attempt to acquire Trent Green because I thought it was imminent and I wanted to report the news after it happened. Now it's been three weeks since the initial rumor. The roadblock to the transaction is Kansas City's insistence on receiving a high draft pick for Green, while the Dolphins are only willing to offer a sixth or seventh round pick. In this case, I'm siding with the Dolphins. The Chiefs are dreaming if they think they can get a second round pick for a 36 year old quarterback who missed half of last season.
The whole Trent Green pursuit is unsettling because it means the team has little faith in Daunte Culpepper's recovery. Why else would the team go after an aging QB who probably only has a year or two left in him? If anything, the Dolphins should have tried to obtain David Carr when he was a free agent. The best avenue now, in my opinion, is to draft a quarterback and then let Culpepper or Lemon start the season.
