What is there to play for?
The NFL and the NBA are the two leagues where I feel the outcome of a team's season falls into two categories: playoffs and draft pick. With the Dolphins at 0-8, the 2007 season definitely falls in the latter. Ordinarily, once the playoffs are out of reach, I prefer a team to lose so that they can get a higher draft pick. Going 2-14 and picking first in the draft is preferable to 6-10 and picking 10th, in my humble opinion.
So, aside from professional pride, what should the Dolphins play for in the last 8 games? Here are two goals I have:
1) Not to go 0-16. That would just be embarrassing and should be avoided at all costs. 1-15 will still get you the top pick.
2) Those who aren't familiar with the Dolphins' glorious past may not be aware that the Dolphins are the only current NFL team to have never suffered two consecutive losing seasons while members of the NFL. This year's team will have to win out the rest of the season to preserve this record, but what a remarkable achievement that would be!

I think my Jets will be in the same competition for draft picks... and just avoiding complete embarrassment.
